CORPORATE GURUKUL BAGS ITS FIRST GEP PROJECT IN MAHARASHTRA

Corporate Gurukul bagged it first Graduate Employability (GEP) project in Western region with Government College of Engineering (GCoE), Amravati on December 10, 2013. GCoE Amravati engaged Corporate Gurukul for assessment and training of the final year engineering graduates. The programme served as a mock preparation before the students appeared for actual campus placements.The programme included a workshop for all participants on “Careers”, “Group Discussion Techniques” and “Cracking Job Interviews”. This was followed by one-on-one interviews – 30 mins of technical skills (core engineering domain) assessment and 30 mins of soft skills assessment for each student. Corporate Gurukul empanelled and engaged 14 highly experienced industry experts from companies like Mercedes Benz, Thermax, Cognizant, Infosys, Indian Navy, etc for training and assessment of 360 students on the institute campus premises.

“We are delighted to interact with the students. They are very thorough in technical knowledge but can use some direction in soft skills”, an assessor was quoted saying. Students from engineering departments like Electrical Eng., Electronics Eng., Computer Science, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering participated in the programme. The rigorous assessment procedure along with feedback and tips has helped the students understand their strengths and improvement areas.

“The students have rated delivery effectiveness of CG as 4 on a scale of 1-5 (1 being worst and 5 being excellent)” said Prof. Gandhare, Principal of the college.

GCoE, Amravati and Corporate Gurukul then addressed a joint press conference on this unique initiative of engaging industry experts for the first time Amravati and also by any GCoE in Maharashtra.
